I'm Winston. I was proudly born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, and have two amazing parents, three brothers and a sister. I live by the creed that the purpose of life is to identify as quickly as possible how one's skills and interests can make as significant an impact as possible to advance mankind, then to execute on that until your time here is up. For me, that means dedicating my life to democratizing access to resources for African citizens to build technology ventures that can scale and bring value to the world at large. This work also means being a catalyst of change to help American institutions looking to access African markets do so in a way that truly benefits all stakeholders, with an emphasis on improving the well being of the locals.
This interest came from my experience founding an international organization called The Global Citizen in college, and spending six months in Senegal building out the French bureau for it. I quickly realized that I had a deep love for empowering my team to do extraordinary things, and to build something new of value together.
What has become clear via my experience thus far is that the raw talent and drive to build ventures of value is abundant in Africa, and those with that talent are just as evenly distributed amongst the population in Africa as anywhere else in the world. But there is a lack of access to privileged networks, education/polishing and other resources that are key to building tech ecosystems that can really thrive. My focus is on helping to move the needle in solving this issue because of my love for tech, fluency in French, and ethnic connection to the continent. I look forward to continuing to build the skill set and coalition necessary to effect this change for many decades to come.
